APC partners with KERRY on biotics
The Kerry Group comes together with APC Microbiome Ireland (APC), a world-leading SFI Research Centre based at University College Cork for a two-year joint exploration into how diet can support cognitive health.
The Kerry Group’s 50-year dedication towards science-backed wellness ingredients is a perfect combination with the APC‘s 20 years of research expertise in harnessing the microbiome to improve health and wellbeing. To this end, Kerry has recently signed a new collaborative research agreement with the APC to leverage their expertise in exploiting “biotic” technologies, to develop novel postbiotic solutions, focusing on the gut-brain axis for unmet mental health needs. With this collaborative cooperative endeavour, Kerry Group benefits from working with renowned scientists and key opinion leaders in the field of cognitive health and its influence by the microbiome, and the APC benefits from partnering with a global industry player in the food sector to develop and commercialise novel, best-in-class ingredients based on solid scientific research. Principal Investigators leading the research at APC are Professors Paul Ross, Colin Hill, Gerard Clarke and John Cryan. This collaboration is a significant step on a shared journey towards sustainable nutrition and science-centred expansion of health-benefiting technologies.
