Message from the Student Experience Committee (SEC)
The Student Experience Committee (SEC) of the School of Nursing and Midwifery had a new system in place in the academic year (AY) 24-25 for listening to matters raised by class representatives and responding to them.
We listened and responded to the following student issues:
- Need for better student support while on clinical placement
- Matter escalated to clinical practice committee
- Students worried about how to respond to amber and red weather warnings while on clinical placement.
- Specific guidance prepared by allocations and posted online. Links to be reshared during periods of poor weather to reorient students.
- Potential delay in communicating assignment marks
- Matter was escalated for action to the Teaching and Learning Committee
- Better integration of certain subjects across the 4-year undergrad programme
- Matter was escalated to the BSc curriculum group and a dedicated SEC student workshop has been arranged for Sept 2025 to incorporate student feedback.
- Consider additional academic writing support for international students.
- Alternative support was provided during AY 24-25 and will be evaluated.
- Need to minimize class disruption during attendance monitoring
- Matter was escalated to the attendance monitoring group for action.
