Cardiac problems in pregnancy

The collaboration between the National Perinatal Epidemiology Centre and Cardiac Services for pregnancy in Ireland marks a significant step towards advancing maternal and fetal healthcare. This partnership aims to use of data to reinforce the quality of healthcare services for pregnant women with cardiac conditions. This initiative not only promises to deepen our understanding of the unique challenges faced by this population but also holds the potential to drive evidence-based improvements in prenatal care, risk assessment, and treatment strategies.

The data collection tool has been created in collaboration with cardiology experts Prof. McAuliffe, Dr. Canniffe, and Dr. Smyth.

Project progress: the data collection tool is being piloted in one unit.
