NPEC Data Hub

Overview

Our NPEC Data Hub projects are the result of a collaboration between the NPEC and the different maternity services, with the objective of utilising electronic data capture to produce real-time data that can be used to understand the service and care provided and respond to its needs in a timelier manner.

Electronic Data Capture

Electronic data capture involves the use of digital systems and technologies to gather, store, and manage clinical data securely. Instead of relying on traditional paper-based methods, electronic data capture streamlines data collection processes, making them more efficient, accurate, and accessible, eliminating the need for manual data entry and reducing the risk of errors.

At NPEC, we avail of professionals with extensive experience in utilising electronic systems to capture and harness clinical data, leading to informed and enhanced patient care.

With real-time data entry, healthcare providers can access up-to-date information instantaneously, enabling quicker decision-making and more timely interventions. This immediate access to patient data translates into faster and more effective care delivery, ultimately leading to improved patient outcomes.

To collect our data, at the NPEC we use REDCap. REDCap is a versatile and powerful web-based application designed to support data collection and management for research studies. Developed by Vanderbilt University, REDCap has gained widespread popularity in the research community due to its user-friendly interface and a wide array of features.
