Research Nurse for Clinical Studies
A fixed-term, part-time appointment position is available for a Clinical Research Nurse to take part in a study of gut health in elderly subjects. The appointee will be based in Cork University Hospital/St. Finbarr’s Hospital, and will work with elderly subjects enrolled in the study, under the guidance of a consultant geriatrician, to collect health data and biological specimens for clinical analysis. The study will use metagenomics and clinical analyses to examine microbiota-health relationships in elderly subjects.
The appointee will work as part of a multi-centre team, including UCC, CUH and Teagasc Moorepark, and will liaise closely with analytical staff at all sites. A phlebotomy certificate will be required; experience of working with elderly subjects will be advantageous.

Job type: Contract, part time, to include one full day
Salary: Clinical Nurse Manager Scale, point depending on experience
Responsibilities:
- High Quality data collection in accordance to GCP/ICH
- Recruitment & Retention of eligible participants
- Collection of clinical samples and liaison with analytical staff
- Assist in the set–up of clinical studies
- Good Computer skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team
- Experience in working with elderly patients would be an advantage
- Cannulation/phlebotomy certification required
