Research Assistant, Molecular Virology Diagnostic & Research Laboratory [Part-time]

- Medical Laboratory Scientist with experience in Molecular Biology or
- M.Sc with experience in Molecular Biology.

Part ti me Research Assistant. The Molecular Virology Diagnostic and Research Laboratory is a University-based unit located within the Department of Medicine, University College Cork at Cork University Hospital. The laboratory is currently expanding the range of viruses which are examined both from a diagnostic and research perspective. A position as part-time Research Assistant is available for one year. A suitable candidate will be either a Medical Laboratory Scientist with experience in Molecular Biology or a M.Sc with experience in Molecular Biology. Specific experience in real time (RT)-PCR, gel electrophoresis and the handling of potentially infectious material would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to become familiar with a range of diagnostic tests and translation research for a range of viruses. On site training will be provided. This is a University appointment of one year’s duration [part-time]. The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of completion of a Hepatitis B vaccination program.People & Culture Department
