Research Assistant, Centre for Research in Vascular Biology (CRVB)

A research assistant/technician position is available in Centre for Research in Vascular Biology (CRVB, http://www.crvb.eu/), University College Cork, Ireland. The CRVB team is based in well-equipped laboratories in the BioSciences Institute, UCC. The focus of the lab is to address fundamental questions in vascular biology using state of the art biochemical and molecular techniques. A range of experimental models are used including transgenic, bone marrow chimeric and vascular models of vessel injury, plaque formation and vascular occlusion. State of the art imaging tools are used including fluoroscopic angiography, PV loops, CT and PET in addition to laser confocal microscopy.

A highly motivated junior assistant will join a team of Postdoctoral Fellows, Medical Researchers and PhD students studying the role of progenitor cells in cardiovascular disease.  The successful candidate’s role will be to assist in different projects within the laboratory as well as general facility maintenance such as stock taking and reagent preparation. 

Applicant should have a degree (Bachelor or Masters) in life-science and at least one practical year experience in a laboratory.  Graduates familiar with UCC internal operations are encouraged to apply.  Applicants should be enthused to acquire new techniques and those with ready skills in molecular biology, cell biology, and in vivo models are preferred.

The position initially is for one year (with possibility of extension) and with salary of approximately: BSc graduate: €26,000 - €30,000; MSc graduate: €32,000- €40,000.
