Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Mucosal Immunology / IBD Exploratory

The Alimentary Pharmabiotic Centre (APC) www.apc.ucc.ie is a research centre funded by Science Foundation Ireland and headquartered in University College Cork, Ireland.  The APC has a major research collaboration with the global pharmaceutical company, GSK, to develop new therapies for gastrointestinal diseases.

Postdoctoral Research Scientist – Mucosal Immunology / IBD Exploratory

A position is available for a postdoctoral research scientist (PhD) to study the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying immune-mediated gastrointestinal disorders and to identify potential drug treatments for them. Candidates would have a distinct advantage if they have a background in any of the following areas: mucosal immunology, signal transduction, inflammation research, host-flora interactions, or epithelial cell physiology. The person will be expected to support and interact with a team of APC and GSK scientists and also work independently on individual projects. Candidates with experience in at least three or all of the following are desirable, in vivo models of IBD, ex vivo organ culture, in vitro assay systems, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, siRNA, western blotting, ELISAs and/or qPCR.
