Development of new optical oxygen sensing systems

A postdoctoral position is available immediately, to work on a 3-year project which involves the development of new systems using fluorescence based oxygen sensing, particularly for packaging and microbiological applications. The project is funded by the Irish Department of Agriculture and Food and will be run in collaboration with Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences, UCC.

The successful candidate will join the dynamic team of the Biophysics and Bioanalysis lab at the Biochemistry Department. The lab is accommodated in the new state-of-the-art Analytical and Biological Chemistry Research Facility (ABCRF), Cavanagh Pharmacy Building, UCC. Applicants are expected to have proven track record and relevant background in fluorescence, optical chemical sensors and biosensors, microbiology, food and packaging science and material chemistry. Attractive salary will commensurate with qualification.
