Instrumentation Engineer, Hydromet (1-Year Contract)

INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEER (1-Year Contract)

Status:             12 months from February 2007.

Salary:             €31,500 per annum (plus pension contribution equivalent to 13.5% of salary).

The Centre has a range of research projects in the fields of atmospheric science, hydrology, ecosystems modelling and soil science. To support this research an engineer is required to assist with installation of field instrumentation, collection of air samples, operation and maintenance of a gas chromatography system, and maintenance of field instrumentation when necessary.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A third level qualification in Applied Physics, Engineering, Instrumentation, Environmental Science or a related discipline, with a strong practical capability.
  • Experience of laboratory or field equipment such as gas chromatographs, data acquisition hardware, data communications and control systems.
  • IT and programming skills (e.g. Visual Basic, assembler, Matlab, C/++ or Java)
  • A full clean driving licence or access to independent means of transport to travel to remote field sites.
