UCC Students Nominated for two Learning on Screen Awards

15 Apr 2024

Students from UCC have been nominated for two Learning on Screen Awards. The Learning on Screen Awards have celebrated the use of film and media in education and research since 2005 and are awarded to students and industry professionals for projects ranging from non-professional work through to broadcast production.

The 2023 Lord Puttnam Scholars have been nominated for their film A Close Shave which premiered at the Cork International Film Festival in November and will screen at the Fastnet Film Festival in May. The scholarship offers students the opportunity to produce a film together under the mentorship of Oscar-winning film producer Lord David Puttnam. Recent Film & Screen Media MA graduate Elena Binig was nominated in the Best Educational Film category for The Big House. The film, made as part of a special archival appropriation project in conjunction with Northern Ireland Screen, is now available on the Digital Film Archive.

The award ceremony will take place in London at the Curzon Soho, 2nd May 2024.
