Sean Murphy

Name: Sean Murphy
Position: Part-Time Lecturer

I graduated from UCC in 1987 with a first class BA in Latin and English. I then completed the Higher Diploma in Education in 1988. I tutored first-arts Latin students in UCC during the period 1988-90, and then pursued a career in secondary teaching.  I primarily taught Latin, Classical Studies, English and History at St. Finbarr’s Seminary College, Farranferris, Cork, 1990-2006. I contribute to the teaching of GR1001: An Introduction to Greek and Roman Civilization and am the sole lecturer in the case of GR3007: Alexander the Great. I am also currently teaching Anglo-Saxon or Old English to Second Arts English students.  My research focuses on the perception of Alexander the Great in both classical and medieval art and literature.
