Site Description
Lismore Castle, built in 1185, passed through notable owners including Raleigh and Boyle before becoming a Devonshire property. It features Ireland's oldest continually cultivated gardens, spanning seven acres within 17th-century walls.
The 6th Duke Devonshire and his family added sculptures, opened Lismore Castle Arts in 2005. In 2014 the Castle and Gardens were awarded an Eco-Merit for their comprehensive environmental policy for the grounds.
