EYHL2

Last weekend marked the start of the EYHL2 league as UCC welcomed Belfast Harlequins to the Mardyke. The students made an impressive statement in their opening fixture, powering to victory with goals from Emma O’Sullivan (2), Jenny McLaughlin, and a well‑taken penalty stroke from captain Lauren Cripps.
This Saturday they face another northern opponent, Lisnagarvey, who make their debut at this level. UCC will be looking to build on their strong start and continue gathering early‑season momentum.

Women’s Division 2 – Munster Div 2 Cup

The Women’s Division 2 side opened their cup campaign against Belvedere in the first round of the Munster Div 2 Cup. Belvedere arrived determined and competitive, but UCC capitalised clinically from their penalty corners. Goals from Alex Kenny and Giselle Keogh secured the win.

They now look ahead to a challenging Examiner Cup fixture this Saturday at 12.30am in Ashton, where they will meet Ashton 1. As last season’s cup champions, UCC  expect a tougher test than usual and are eager to measure themselves against senior opposition after dominating Division 2 in recent months.

Men’s 1sts

The only men’s match last weekend saw UCC travel to Waterford. Despite a solid team performance and periods of promising play, UCC were unable to convert their chances, while Waterford proved efficient in front of goal, taking the game 3–0.

The men return to action in the McClean Cup this Sunday in Garryduff at 10.30am, where they face C of I D.

Other Weekend Fixtures

  • Women’s 5ths – home to Ashton, Saturday at 10.30am, Mardyke.
  • Women’s Division 3A – away to Tipperary, Saturday at 10.30am; the side will aim to continue their winning form in the league.
  • Women’s Division 3B – home to Ashton, Sunday at 1.00pm, Mardyke; an important fixture where UCC hope to secure vital points to remain in Division 3.
