Read on to find out more about the latest news from UCC Hockey.

It was a free weekend for the men while all the women’s teams had games.

UCC hosted Old Alex at the Mardyke on Saturday. Old Alex settled into the game quicker but UCC soon got to grips with match, playing some lovely hockey. Old Alex scored in the 2nd quarter with an individual run down the centre and a shot from play. Old Alex added to their tally with a goal in the 3rd quarter from Limerick woman Leah Clery. UCC continued to play good hockey and an individual effort from Micaela Sanderson, who has been playing great hockey this season so far, scored to claw one back. Another goal from Emma O Sullivan in the final quarter really heated things up and a draw was looking the likely result. However with minutes to go a challenge on an Old Alex player resulted in a stroke. A conversion and Old Alex escaped from Cork with a 3 point win. FT 2-3. UCC travel to Dublin on Saturday to play Railway Union who have picked up a couple of wins strengthening their standing in the league. Tip off is 1.30pm

Division 3 travelled to Limerick and with their early season performances were hopeful for a good result. However without a regular keeper the team lost 3-0 to a strong Limerick side. This Saturday they play the usually tough Cork Wanderers side, 10.30am tip off.

Division 2 played Blackrock on Sunday and continued their dominance in this league with 4 goals (Alex Kenny 2, Ella Lehane, Nicole Clarke). FT 0-4. Next game is Sunday 12pm against Cork Harlequins B.

In their league game, Division 4 got off to a flying start with 3 goals in the first quarter against Midleton. The home side battled on and got one back. UCC continued to play good hockey but against a tough opposition the score remained 1-3. With two out of two wins in the league, the Div 4 side look forward to taking on Crescent on Sunday 2.30pm at the Mardyke.

The men return to action on Saturday with Catholic Institute travelling to the Mardyke, tip off 1pm
