Keynote Speaker: Professor Barry O' Sullivan

Professor Barry O'Sullivan is Director of UCC Futures Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics; Director, INSIGHT research Centre, UCC. Barry is a leading expert in artificial intelligence, recognised globally for his work at the intersection of AI, ethics, and public policy. Based at University College Cork and a visiting professor at Northwestern University, he has advised the European Commission, represents the EU at the Global Partnership on AI, and contributes to international diplomacy on AI’s geopolitical impact. Full Bio Here.

Legal and Regulatory Framework Briefing for AI in Ireland EU and globally

Professor Nessa Lynch is a Professor in Law, Innovation and Technology at the School of Law, UCC, supported by the Matheson Innovation Partnership. Her current work is in the legal and regulatory framework for emerging technologies, and human rights in the digital sphere.  Her career has spanned academia, policy, technology ethics consultancy and law enforcement leadership. She is a member of the Policing and Community Safety Authority.

Creating Value with AI: Challenges, Choices, and Strategic Alignment

Professor Ciara Heavin is Chair of Business Analytics at Cork University Business School, University College Cork, Ireland. Her research focuses on opportunities for using information systems (IS) in the global healthcare ecosystem and in digital transformation. Ciara has led funded research in the investigation, development, and implementation of innovative technology solutions in the healthcare domain. She has published articles in top international IS journals and conference proceedings. Professor Heavin has co-authored three books with Daniel J. Power: Decision Support, Analytics, and Business Intelligence, Data-Based Decision Making and Digital Transformation, and Becoming Agile.
