ASSERT Hosts Advanced Endoscopic Ear Surgery Course
The ASSERT Centre today hosted its advanced Endoscopic Ear Surgery course, providing surgeons with hands-on training in key transcanal techniques and middle-ear reconstruction. Delegates worked through procedures including myringoplasty, Atticotomy, and ossiculoplasty under the guidance of a distinguished international faculty. The event was made possible through the support of partners including MEDEL, PIEZO, KURTZ, Severn, Tekno Surgical, and Stryker.
The ASSERT Centre is today running a high-level CORK ENDOSCOPIC AND OSSICULAR RECONSTRUCTIVE COURSE (CEORC), bringing surgeons together for a practical, technique-driven training day in the cadaveric surgical skills lab. The programme offers participants the chance to work through key endoscopic approaches that continue to shape modern otology. Endoscopic ear surgery also known as TEES, provides enhanced visualisation and the ability to work through the ear canal with minimal disruption.
Throughout the day, delegates are performing interlay graft myringoplasty, tympanoplasty, raising tympanomeatal flaps, and exploring complex regions such as the sinus tympani and facial recess. Early cholesteatoma management is a major feature, with hands-on Atticotomy and removal of the lateral attic wall under faculty supervision. Participants are also carrying out ossiculoplasty, reconstructing the malleus, incus, and stapes and refining their fine tissue-handling techniques. Delivered by an exceptional national and international faculty, today’s course blends careful technical instruction with contemporary insights into endoscopic practice.
ASSERT extends its sincere thanks to the distinguished faculty whose expertise and guidance made today’s training possible:
Professor Arun Iyer, Glasgow University
