Epiphyte diversity in native and plantation forests in Ireland

Epiphyte Diversity in Native and Plantation Forests

PhD Project

Howard Fox, Department of Botany, School of Natural Sciences, TCD

Supervisor: Dr. Daniel KellyThis project on epiphyte diversity in Irish forests will address several questions.

Epiphyte community distribution and diversity are to be compared between native, semi-natural woodlands and plantation forests.Epiphyte community distribution and diversity are to be compared between first rotation plantation forests (already studied by Coote, 2007) and second rotation plantation forests. An assessment will be made of the role of spontaneous broadleaved trees as habitat for epiphytes within plantation forests.
