Mr. Richard Walsh
Adjunct Senior Clinical Lecturer, UCC MBS, B.A., HDip HCRM, RPN, RGN, NHS Scotland Quality and Patient Safety Fellow
Mr. Richard Walsh, MBS, B.A., HDip HCRM, RPN, RGN, NHS Scotland Quality and Patient Safety Fellow has served as Director of Nursing National Acute Medicine Programme since 2015, advising on nursing issues in acute medicine nursing. He represents the programme on a number of national nursing policy groups. Experienced in ED, medical & surgical, neonatal and paediatric general and intensive care nursing he has strong links with the HSE South/SW Hospital Group having served as a Director of Nursing and Midwifery in University Hospital Kerry between 2004 and 2015. Other roles include Director of Nursing at RCSI King Hamad University Hospital Bahrain, and as a General Manager and project specialist in mental health and addiction services.
He is a strong advocate for under and post graduate education, advanced nursing practice, workforce planning, integrated care, care quality and measurement for improvement.
