Today on World Cerebral Palsy Day, UCC has announced the appointment of Prof Deirdre Murray as the new Chair in Early Brain Injury and Cerebral Palsy, as part of a new programme of excellence to revolutionise the delivery of cerebral palsy care in Ireland.

Following a very successful meeting of the Chief Academic Officers in the offices of Childrens Health Ireland, where plans for the inclusion of an Academic Health Sciences System within the new Health Regions were further developed, the CAOs and their support teams, hosted by Eilish Hardiman, CEO CHI, and Professor Owen Smith, CAO CHI, visited the new Childrens Hospital.

Five post-doctoral researchers at UCC’s School of Public Health, National Suicide Research Foundation (NSRF) and the Irish Centre for Maternal & Child Health Research (INFANT) have received a total of €1.9 million in funding to investigate and find solutions for public health challenges.
