Outline
Through participation in this module, students will ensure an understanding of, and an engagement with, the principal aspects of environmental health and provide an account of the current burden of disease attributable to poor or disrupted environmental health.
During this module students will be provided with an overview of environmental health including a brief mention on legislation and the framework of "Health in All Policies"; review the fundamental determinants of health (air, food and water); engage with "humanising environmental health" to include human rights and vulnerable populations; understand the health implications of waste, sustainability and climate change; review environmental-related diseases and engage with environmental health within the built environment considering the "Healthy Cities" approach. Throughout the module, students will reflect and analyse various environmental health issues through the lenses of both public and occupational health.
