Overview of the group

The Data Hierarchy Group (DHG) was set up in April 2018.  The DHG is tasked with aligning and maintaining the organisational hierarchy across the enterprise systems of the university.  The group ensures the business structures and changes are reflecting and synchronised in all systems and reporting. 

The group also makes recommendations to the DGG on overarching data frameworks and procedures for data matters in the university. 

The group is comprised of key enterprise system administrators who support the business to manage the systems, data and associated reports and business processes on individual source systems for the organisation.

Responsibilities

• escalates data issues to the Data Governance Group
• inputs into the Data Governance framework
• informs the DGG of any risks or challenges identified by hierarchical changes to key university data accessed, shared and analysed by end users in making data driven decisions.
• Supports the business in clarifying the definition of the organisational hierarchy
• informs the data glossary or ‘UCC business language’
• provides guidance on data structures on new systems

Duration and documents

The DHG will meet at least 6 times a year to maintain the enterprise systems organisational structures, terminology, and data.

Teamwork will be used to store minutes and supporting documentation in relation to change management of the data hierarchy structures.

The meetings will be chaired by Sinéad O’Geran.

Membership

The nominees are systems administrators or system managers of key enterprise applications and are supporting operations in their respective areas.
