Research Ireland PhD scholarship – RCSI are advertising a fully funded, four‑year PhD due to start in September entitled “Empowering Voices, Enhancing Outcomes: Co‑creating an Open‑Source Health‑Economic Model for Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia in Ireland”.

Congratulations to Dr. Kseniya Simbirtseva, who represented CGR and APC Microbiome Ireland at AD/PD 2025 – the International Conference on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases and related Neurological Disorders, held in Vienna, Austria.

“Gut microbiome in cognitive impairment induces neuroinflammation in recipient germ‑free mice and is modifiable by a microbial consortium.”

chAnGE - innovative learning for a more climate-resilient healthcare service for older people

University College Cork recently hosted a Transnational Project Meeting of the ‘Climate change and Healthy AgeinG: co-creating E-learning for resilience and adaptation’ (chAnGE) project, where Prof. Suzanne Timmons of CGR is the lead coordinator. This was hosted by Prof. Timmons and took place, online, from 20-22 January 2025.

This €1.5 million EU-funded Erasmus+ project is an alliance of universities, vocational education and training providers, and health & social care organisations, across Ireland, Portugal, Finland, Austria & Greece. Together we are co-creating a suite of online micro credentials for health and social care workers who deliver care to older people.

Congratulations to Dr. Siobhán Fox who was invited by the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland to speak on the topic of ‘Harnessing community information and support for people with young onset dementia and their families’, as part of the Dementia Dialogues: Breaking Down Research webinar series.
