Module Goal

  • To develop a detailed knowledge of, and to undertake a critical evaluation of contemporary practice in architectural technology and its integration.

Why Choose

On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

  1. Explain to a peer group, in an illustrated presentation of a contemporary work of architecture, the factors that influence the design decisions on building technology and their integration.

  2. Analyse the relationship between an overall architectural design concept, and the environmental, structural and construction technologies adopted.

  3. Apply appropriate procedures for the evaluation of selected architecturally significant technological design decisions.

  4. Evaluate technological specifications and system selctions using evidence from practice, from technical literature, or from analytical procedures.

Requirements

To join this postgraduate micro-credential, you will ideally have as a minimum:

  • An Architecture/Engineering Bachelor’s Degree or related equivalent qualification with a proficiency in the English language.
  • An interest in achieving greater literacy around Sustainable Design methods and praxis, uncovering innovative and novel architectural applications, helping to design around net zero energy buildings, and greater competence around Universal Access principles.

Fees and Costs

The HCI Pillar 3 Micro-credential Learner Fee Subsidy has been introduced to enable more learners to address critical skills gaps and engage with lifelong learning.

The fee for this micro-credential is €500 but applicants who meet the subsidy requirements can attend this micro-credential for €100.
