On Wednesday November 24^th 2021 UCC and Bruker jointly hosted a webinar on “Emerging NMR Solutions for the Pharmaceutical Industry".

On Friday 5^th January 2018, a Memorial Seminar in Organic Chemistry was held in UCC in honour of Prof MA McKervey who passed away unexpectedly in June 2017.

The annual student-nominated Overall Winner and Runners-Up of the College of SEFS Teaching Staff Awards were presented with the SEFS Certificates for Teaching Awards 2017. 

We are deeply saddened to report the passing of Prof Tony McKervey over the weekend. 

Well done to Ger, Rachel and the quinolone group who were awarded the ‘Purdy Lucey Invention of the Year (Life Science)’ at UCC last week. 

Scientists in Cork have discovered a drug that increases appetite, in a development they believe may also point the way to a drug that can trigger weight loss. The work at University College Cork (UCC) has the potential to reverse weight loss caused by severe illness or in those with anorexia.

Elaine O’Sullivan is a postgraduate researcher at University College Cork whose work has included the discovery of a molecule in a berry that can be used in the creation of a compound that can reduce the size of tumours, especially in leukaemia.
