Further information about the workshops:
Who?
The Youth Climate Justice (YCJ) project is a European Research Council (EU) -funded international study led by Prof. Aoife Daly at University College Cork with a team of six. We research children’s work on the environment around the world.
Why?
We want to ask children/youth their views on climate action (like cleaning up the environment, protesting and other things) and how it can help human rights. We have already run workshops in Argentina, Canada, Nepal and online.
We want to share your views and art with people around the world to:
- Help youth to be heard on the climate crisis;
- Help everyone understand the climate crisis as a human rights issue; and
- Show everyone that youth can do important work on the environment
We will put some of the art on our website and write articles and books about the art and words of the children/youth. See art from previous workshops here: Youth Climate Justice | University College Cork
How?
We use Participatory Action Research (PAR), an approach where children/youth are co-researchers with an active role in shaping the research. Working through different arts methods, you will look at the relationship between the climate crisis and your own rights, coming up with your own questions, images and reflections.
