The Commercialization Process

Commercialising UCC technologies and ideas drives what we do at UCC innovation

The UCC innovation's commercialisation team will work closely with you to identify the best route to commercialisation. Once a route has been identified, the UCC innovation team will work with you to develop and implement a plan to commercialise the research. This may involve further technical development work, protecting patent rights and market analysis . The UCC innovation Process is a well defined stage gate process from research stage through to commercialisation across the university sector nationally and internationally.

Submitting your invention

The invention disclosure is an important first step in documenting your idea and for protecting and licensing your invention. With the information you provide, we can evaluate your invention’s commercial potential and our ability to protect the invention through patents or copyrights.

Submit your Invention disclosure using the Invention Disclosure Form. Use this form to formally start the UCC innovation process by fully documenting your invention. Please complete, sign and forward to the Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) at uccinnovation@ucc.ie and to the contact address below

If you need assistance with reporting an invention (including software) call UCC innovation 021 4205880.

Good Practice for Researchers

When undertaking research, it is essential to keep proper records of experimental work and results. This is also essential for filing patent applications. These records should be kept securely at all times.
