Welcome to UCC Rugby Club. We're based in the Mardyke Sports Grounds and the Farm, Curraheen Sports Grounds

UCC Rugby was founded in 1872 and celebrated its 150th anniversary during the 2022-23 season.

The club runs:

  • A Senior Men’s side in Division 1B of the All-Ireland League (AIL).
  • An Under 20 Men’s side that participates in the Conroy Cup, the Munster Donal Walsh Trophy league and the Fraser McMullen All Ireland U20 Championship.
  • A Junior 1 Men’s side that participates in the Munster League.
  • A Junior 2 Men’s side that participates in the Munster League and the Student Sport
  • Ireland (SSI) league and cup; and
  • A Women’s Rugby side that participates in the Student Sport Ireland (SSI) league and cup.

Training for all UCC Rugby teams takes place at The Farm on Curraheen Road on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Training for all teams starts in September – details are on the club website – www.uccrugby.ie. Also please follow us on twitter and Instagram – @uccrfc.

All AIL Senior Men’s home games are played in the Mardyke. This is your team. Come out and support your friends and classmates. We look forward to seeing you there.

First current Ireland Men's International to play for UCC Rugby in 45 years

Alex Kendellen starts for UCC Rugby

UCC Rugby has announced its team for the Blackrock College vs UCC Rugby game on Saturday 29th November. Selected at Number 8 is current Ireland International and Munster Rugby player Alex Kendellen. Alex has not been named in a Munster matchday squad so far this current URC season; he has been out with an ankle injury and only recently returned to training.

UCC Women's Rugby win SSI Cup

UCC 26-24 Carlow UCC Women's Rugby emerged victorious yesterday at St. Clare's DCU after a pulsating drama-filled overtime game. UCC tied up the game to send it to overtime and repeated the feat again in overtime by scoring a late try to win. Congratulations to all involved.

UCC win the Dudley Cup at the Mardyke

UCC Rugby 29-28 Queens It was a day never to be forgot by those who were at the Mardyke on Saturday. 120 folks attended the pre-match lunch that honoured the Munster Junior Cup wining team of 1975, the Munster Minor B League winning Bulldogs of 1985, the Jerry Walsh family led by Lea Walsh and family and the new sponsorship of the Moss Keane Scholarship.

UCC Rugby announces season of special events for 150th Anniversary

Ulysses S. Grant was resident in the White House, Queen Victoria sat on the throne in England, and Jules Verne’s Around the World in Eighty Days was first published in 1872 - the same year Queen’s College Cork published its first rulebook for playing rugby in Cork. Now UCC Rugby is to celebrate its storied history with a season of celebrations to mark its 150th anniversary.
