UCC Hockey Update 03/04/24

3 Apr 2024

The Division 3 side were on the road to Tipperary and the only game of the weekend for the students over the Easter break. This was the teams second last game of the league and a win would keep them on track for a play off and potential promotion to Division 2. Goals came from Claire Jermyn (2) and Marianna Gallagher and secured another 3 points for the UCC side (see league table).

Fixtures this weekend include the W1sts travelling up North to play Lurgan in their final EY2 league game. They enjoyed a free weekend and a last break before a hectic 3 weeks ahead. This match has no bearing for UCC as the team have qualified for the semi finals in the EY2 play offs however a win here would give the students the confidence needed for the 20th April and an unbeaten record in the EY2 this year (see league table).

Division 2 play their final game of the season this weekend with their league game away to Belvedere on Saturday tip off 1.15pm. Division 2 while unfortunately bringing home no silverware this season have had a great season and will finish 2nd in the Munster Division 2 League behind a very strong Institute side.

Division 3 play Clonakilty in their final league game this Saturday in the Mardyke at 11am. A win will ensure a league play off and possible promotion and third place finish in the Munster League.

Division 5 play their final league game of the season against Clonakilty in Bandon on Sunday, tip off 2.30pm. Crescent won their final game and can't be caught by the student side. The Div 5 side must wait for the EY playoff weekend to know their fate, automatic promotion or a play off game !

The Club AGM will take place next Monday at 6pm in the Pavilion. (See instagram post for full details)
