Read on to find out more about the latest news from UCC Hockey.

Last weekend saw the W1sts play their first EY1 game against a tough Catholic Institute side. The students did well in the first half, maintaining a 0-0 half time scoreline. However 2 rapid goals from the Limerick side early in the 3rd quarter made it an up hill battle for UCC. Institute sealed their win with another goal and a full time score of 3-0. A lot to learn for the students but early days yet. This weekend UCC host Ulster Elks at the Mardyke, Saturday 1pm tip-off. There is an Orange weather warning so keep an eye on any cancellations over the weekend.

The men's side hosted Midleton at the Mardyke. Their second game of the season had a full time scoreline 1-4 but with new additions each week, the team is gathering strength and depth and bodes well for the future of this section of the club.

Division 3 travelled to Rockwell and played Tipperary in their first game of the season in the Div 3/4  Combined Cup. UCC were the stronger side but with some great saves from Faye Luby from Tipperary breaks to keep them in it, the students scored in the dying minutes to come away with a 1 nil win.

Division 2 and 4 due to play on Sunday saw their games cancelled due to an Orange weather warning.

With great numbers arriving to women's hockey and not enough competitive teams to cater for the numbers, the club welcomes the UCC Panthers. This group will train weekly and play invited opposition to the Mardyke. This Sunday sees MTU as our opposition with a 10am tip off.

Social Hockey had over 50 players on Wednesday and continues to show the popularity of the sport, giving people an opportunity to take up the sport for the first time and enjoy the run around !
