NorseMap open for Erasmus+ Traineeship / Internship applications

25 May 2026

Do you want to gain experience working on a project about the uses of the Vikings in the modern world? NorseMap will support applications for internships via the Erasmus+ traineeship scheme

If you are looking to do an Erasmus+ internship and have a background in history or interest in the Vikings, you might think of applying to work with NorseMap, an ERC-funded project that is setting out to map the uses of the Viking past in the modern world and to understand the way that this period of history impacts on contemporary culture.

This is a multilingual project, so we're particularly interested in applicants with a humanities background and a second language, to help liaise with contributors from across Europe.

What we can offer is experience working on a large-scale project, training in the use of the digital curation platform Omeka, digital collection methodologies, app-backend and data management, event planning, and insight into the latest research on the Vikings. We are embedded in the University College Cork, and offer a structured project environment within a friendly team.

If this sounds like somewhere you'd like to spend your Erasmus+ traineeship, then feel free to get in touch by sending an email to norsemap@ucc.ie (ideally, well in advance of your home university's deadlines).

You can find out more about the project here, and there is information on the Erasmus+ scheme here. UCC also has information for Erasmus students here.

We look forward to hearing from you!
