Dr Paula Fernández Gómez on secondment at Seqbiome
Dr. Paula Fernández Gómez completed her secondment at Seqbiome, a world leading microbiome contract research company.
Dr. Paula Fernández Gómez completed her 3 month secondment at Seqbiome, a world leading microbiome contract research company. During this time, she learned new skills in Next Generation Sequencing on Illumina platforms and in miniaturized and automated library preparation protocols.
"I think the secondment has allowed me to learn both the technical aspects of sequencing and library preparation and also the organization and workflow in a private company. I have gained wet lab experience in library preparation but also I have improved my understanding of sequencing technologies and kit choices (low-/high-depth sequencing coverage, read length, number of samples,…). This knowledge can be useful in the future as I feel more prepared to make decisions about sequencing projects. The access to automated liquid handling technology which can be applied on many research settings was also a valuable experience" said Dr. Paula Fernández Gómez after completing her secondment.
