Dr Manon Oliero on secondment with Gourmet Fuels Ltd.

Manon joined APC Microbiome Ireland, a Research Ireland Centre based at University College Cork as an INSPIRE Postdoctoral Fellow and works on the SCONE study (Satiety Control Optimization by Nutritional Enhancement) where her primary objective is to evaluate the effect of combining various dietary fibres in industrialized food products to better control glycemia throughout the day.

Gourmet Fuels hosted Dr. Manon Oliero for her non-academic secondment, a mandatory part of the INSPIRE fellowship programme.

Gourmet Fuels specializes in developing personalized, nutritionally balanced meal plans designed to promote health and wellness. They focus on delivering ready-made, scientifically formulated meals that help individuals achieve their health goals through optimal nutrition. During Manon’s secondment, she was provided with the necessary resources, including access to their kitchen facilities, equipment, and logistical expertise, to ensure her secondment's success.

She got hands-on experience that complements her research and supports her professional growth. Throughout her time, she collaborated with the Gourmet Fuels team to design meal plans and assist with the preparation of meals for her research study's interventional phase.

This secondment offered Dr. Oliero practical experience in product development, covering everything from ingredient selection to regulatory compliance, certification processes, and marketing strategies. In return, Gourmet Fuels have benefited from her scientific expertise and research insights, further advancing their goal of creating scientifically validated nutritional products.
