About CERES

CERES is a conservation organisation committed to field-based education and environmental research. CERES was established in 2004 by biologist Dr Axel Bamberger and geologist Dr Astrid Blum.  The project is located close to the sea in south-west Portugal near Aljezur in the middle of the Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina.

CERES ( www.ceresinternational.org ) provides high-quality training and career development courses and organises field courses for university groups at its base in Portugal. CERES staff assit with pre-trip planning and take care of the logistics of the field courses.  We liase with the trip ;eader to organise contextualised activities and arrange for guest lectures from an extensive list of local contacts. We also offer taught workshops by PhD-level scientists in biology, ecology, geology, tourism and outdoor sport science and fully taught CPD courses
