Fossil Info

A tiny leg bone and a fragment of a hip bone from fossil amphibians have been found in the Clare Shales near Doolin, Co. Clare. The bones belonged to two different species of small early amphibians and were washed offshore into deep water zones and are preserved in marine rocks. They are the oldest tetrapod bones in Ireland.
