ISS21 and CSF welcome new Deputy Directors
Dr Gema Kloppe-Santamaria and Dr Siobhán O’Sullivan have each been appointed to the role of Deputy Director of ISS21/Collective Social Futures.
Speaking on the appointments, Professor Maggie O’Neill said: “I am delighted to welcome Gema and Siobhán to their new roles in ISS21/CSF. As Deputy Directors, they will assist me in supporting and championing the wonderful social science work that is ongoing in ISS21 and Collective Social Futures, with colleagues from across the University.
“Gema and Siobhán are both active members of ISS21 and CSF. Gema is co‑convenor of the ISS21 Genders, Sexualities and Families research cluster, and both have been involved in the CSF flagship annual event — the CSF Festival of Social Science — in recent years. I look forward to working with them in their new roles.”
Gema is a sociologist and historian whose work deals with questions of violence, gender, religion, and the state in modern and contemporary Latin America. She is a lecturer in sociology at the Department of Sociology and Criminology at UCC.
Siobhán is a senior lecturer in social policy in the School of Applied Social Studies, University College Cork (UCC). Her work focuses on community-based participatory research on housing and regeneration, climate change and sustainability, and widening educational participation.
Everyone at ISS21 and CSF wish Gema and Siobhan the best in their new roles.
