Basic Laparoscopic Course
Laparoscopic skills from first principals
About this event
This practical hands-on course will introduce you to the principals of the instrumentation, safe abdominal entry techniques and appropriate trocar placement positions for specific procedures. Learning and practicing the setup a laparoscopic camera and maintaining an appropriate view in a simulated laparoscopic environment will be established. Basic instrument handling and hand eye coordination will be enabled with basic and more complex bespoke synthetic and biological task trainers. Your confidence will increase during the course of the day as you practice skills together such as tissue dissection and retraction. There is a hybrid element to this course where important principals relating to safe operating and problem solving will be discussed with expert faculty in a safe debriefing session after a laparoscopic simulated scenario. This course is suitable to any speciality using laparoscopy for early entry trainees.
