Astronomers from across Europe descended on Cork today for the largest astronomical conference ever held in Ireland.

Announced during International Men’s Health Week (June 9th - 15th), University College Cork has received funding to lead a major new €6 million European project that will revolutionise how adolescents and young adults (AYAs) across Europe understand and manage the long-term effects of testicular cancer.

UCC marks a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to a sustainable future with the official launch of the Sustainability Institute. Formerly known as the Environmental Research Institute (ERI), this new identity reflects an expanded and integrated vision for sustainability research that aligns with the university’s core values and ambitions.

Researchers at UCC are spearheading an innovative project aimed at integrating mathematical theory with practical applications to train future experts and enhance the use of mathematical models in various fields, including environmental management, energy, and healthcare. 

Recently, University College Cork has been working with Pfizer to advance important discoveries in the development of new medicines and the processes to underpin their manufacture. 

A team of international scientists have tracked over 100 marine megafauna species, identifying the most critical locations in our global oceans for better marine conservation efforts.
