Quality In Higher Education: Sectoral Findings and Enhancement Showcase

Ms Elizabeth Noonan, Director of Quality Enhancement, Ms Deirdre O’Brien, Senior Quality Enhancement Advisor, and Dr Silvia Brandi, Quality Enhancement Advisor, represented UCC at the Annual Quality Report (AQR) National Conference on ‘Quality in Higher Education: Sectoral Findings and Enhancement Showcase’, organised by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI). The aim of the conference was share the key findings from an independent thematic analysis of the last AQR institutional submissions (2022/23) and to provide an opportunity for Irish HE institutions, universities, technological universities and private HE providers, to share their submitted case studies of good practice, network and contribute their insights on the current AQR process. Ms Elizabeth Noonan took part in the Panel Discussion, as one of the five experts, commenting on the AQR submission process and making suggestions for the AQR process quality enhancement, going forward. Finally, the QEU presented its Student Digital Space as an example of good practice, aimed at broadening, diversifying and enhancing the QEU’s digital engagement with students, reaching out to the whole student body, through a variety of means of communication’.  The QEU presentation stressed the alignment of this initiative with national and international student engagement and partnership endeavours, as well as with UCC’s strategic priorities, ’Student Success’, and commitment to ‘ensure that the student voice informs UCC’s activities and decision-making’, ‘by embracing student as active partners and experts in their university experience’.
