Congratulations to Tengfei Lyu who was the recipient of a Student Travel grant award from the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) when he recently attended the 102^nd IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC-Fall) in Chengdu, China. PERCeiVE (deriving PERceptual Confidence in cooperative Vehicular Environments) (CONNECT2-T4) will address the challenge of determining believe/confidence in cooperatively shared environmental perception data so that it can be trusted to make a control decision. Cooperative or collaborative perception is widely viewed as the panacea to truly realise autonomous driving, particularly in complex urban environments.

THE Cork Smart Gateway is an initiative which seeks to promote and develop Cork as a smart and innovative region. They joined forces with Cork City Council and two of Cork’s leading representative groups - the Cork Business Association and the Victorian Quarter (VQ) - to launch a pilot project which will help deliver insights into the use of key streets in Cork city.

Congratulations to Mohamed Seliem on successfully defending his PhD research thesis. Mohamed has completed his BSc and MSc at Cairo University.

Professor Cormac Sreenan has been recognised as being amongst the best computer scientists in Ireland.
