The First Responders and Civil Defence Lecture Day

People from across various agencies attended this important day which helps to build new interagency co-operation.

The College of Medicine and Health was delighted to welcome first responders to UCC on Saturday 2^nd December 2023.

• Civil Defence - Cork City and Cork West
• St John Ambulance Brigade
• Community First Responder Groups
• Cork City Fire Brigade
• National Ambulance Service Cork 

Education Training days like Saturday give Volunteers an opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills, it enhances their motivation and gives them a greater insight into other Volunteer opportunities and career options.

These sessions also allow encourage interactions across various agencies to share experiences and build new interagency co-operation.

Organised by Dr Tony Lynch and Veronica Forde, A/Civil Defence Officer, an impressive line-up of speakers including Dr Colm Henry, Chief Clinical Officer, HSE, presented during the day on topics including Helicopter Medicine, First Responders' Mental Health and Paediatric Emergencies.
