Our Workshop took place on 12th January 2024

Bringing together approximately 130 first-year students!

We are delighted to share the success of our recent Preparation for Clinical Placement Interprofessional Learning(IPL) Workshop, bringing together approximately 130 first-year students across six diverse health professions' programmes – Physiotherapy, Audiology, Diagnostic Radiography, Radiation Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy.

For many students, this workshop marked their first exposure to interprofessional learning, making it a particularly significant milestone in their UCC CoMH journey. Despite their varied backgrounds, the workshop united students with a shared objective—learning collaboratively about and with the other professions for the benefit of patients. Developed and facilitated by UCC Practice Education Coordinators and Practice Tutors from all six programs, the workshop went beyond conventional boundaries, emphasizing the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration.

The students actively engaged in three sub-workshops, each centred around key common areas crucial not only for their academic/clinical placement journey but also for their future careers - health and well-being, professionalism, and receiving feedback. The interactive sessions allowed students to exchange insights, bridge gaps, and establish a robust foundation for their upcoming clinical placements.

Now in its 5th year, this IPL initiative serves as a great start to our 2024 activities, putting down roots for the commitment of our future healthcare professionals to interprofessional collaboration and contributing to a more integrated and patient-focused healthcare system.
