PROGRAMME:

19/05 - 7PM Perfetti sconosciuti / Perfect Strangers - Paolo Genovese - How well do we really know those close to us? During a dinner party, seven friends decide to play a dangerous game. Each attendee places their cell phone on the table and agrees to make all texts and calls public in an attempt to prove that they have nothing to hide. What at first seems like a playful distraction between friends quickly turns into something much more toxic as the messages begin to reveal how little they may know about the partners and acquaintances surrounding them.

20/05 - 6PM Calcinculo / Swing Ride Chiara Bellosi - Maybe it’s true that one grows up only by kicks in the ass. And it’s also true that when the carousel goes very fast we feel like flying and we would like to never get off. This is exactly what happens to Benedetta, an obese fifteen-year-old, when she met Armando, aka Amanda, who will drag her in to his dashed and stray world.

20/05 - 8:15PM L'Arminuta / A Girl Returned - Giuseppe Bonito - August, 1975. A thirteen years-old girl is returned to the family she didn’t know she belonged to. Suddenly she loses everything from her previous life: a comfortable house, an exclusive love being the only-child, and she finds herself in a stranger world lightly touched by progress, and being obliged to share the space of a little and dark home with other five brothers.

21/05 - 6PM Europa / Europe - Haider Rashid - Bulgarian-Turkish border: Kamal (Adama Ali) is a young Iraqi who is trying to enter Europe by foot. Is hunted by the bulgarian police and by the so-called “migrants hunters”. Kamal has in his backpack a passport, some family photos, some papers with notes on them and some phone numbers for when he will finally be in Europe. Hoping this will happen at some point

21/05 - 8:15PM Futura / Futura - Pietro Marcello, Francesco Munzi, Alice Rohrwacher - A truly collective work, where collectiveness is at the service of a whole project. It explores what boys and girls from 15 to 20 think about the future, through a series of interviews filmed during a long journey across Italy. It is a portrait of the country, as seen through the eyes of a group of teens who talk about the places they live in, their dreams, expectations, desires and fears.

22/05 - 2:30PM Re Granchio The Tale of King Crab Alessio Rigo De Righi, Matteo Zoppis - Italy, nowadays. Some elderly hunters reminisce about the tale of Luciano together. Late 19th century, Luciano lives as a wandering drunkard in the Tuscian countryside. His lifestyle and constant opposition to the despotic local prince have turned him into an outcast for the community. In an ultimate vengeful move to protect the woman he loves, Luciano commits the unforgivable. Now an unfortunate criminal, he is exiled to Tierra del Fuego. There, with the help of ruthless gold diggers, he seeks a mythical treasure, paving his way towards redemption. Yet, little but greed and madness can grow on these barren lands.

22/05 - 5PM Il Silenzio Grande / The Great Silence Alessandro Gassmann - Villa Primic, once a luxurious home, now a creaky mansion straight out of a ghost story, has been put up for sale. A painful decision, taken by Mrs. Primic, Rose, and reluctantly shared by the two heirs to the Primic’s dilapidated fortune, Massimiliano and Adele. The only member of the family who is not at all happy with the decision is the head of the household, Valerio, who will thus discover that he has never really known his loved ones and, perhaps, not even himself, to the point of reaching the grudging awareness that living is not the same thing as being alive.

22/05 - 7:30PM Ennio / Ennio Giuseppe Tornatore - A well-rounded portrait of Ennio Morricone, the most popular and prolific film composer of the 20th century, two-time Oscar winner and author of over 500 unforgettable scores. A long interview by Tornatore, testimonies from artists and directors including Bernardo Bertolucci, Giuliano Montaldo, Marco Bellocchio, Dario Argento, the Taviani brothers, Carlo Verdone, Barry Levinson, Roland Joffé, Oliver Stone, Quentin Tarantino, Bruce Springsteen, Nicola Piovani, Hans Zimmer and Pat Metheny, music and archive footage. Ennio also sets out to reveal the less well-known side of Morricone, such as his passion for the game of chess, which may have mysterious links with his music.
