Evening Classes Online and in Cork

Would you like to learn Italian, improve your conversation skills or take your existing Italian to the next level?

The Department of Italian at UCC is delighted to offer Italian evening courses for 2026–27, with classes beginning in September 2026.

Whether you are starting Italian for the first time or already have experience with the language, you can choose from five levels:

  • Absolute Beginners
  • Elementary
  • Intermediate
  • Upper Intermediate
  • Advanced

Most of our Italian evening classes are delivered online via Microsoft Teams, making them accessible from across Ireland. An in-person Italian course for Absolute Beginners is also available in Cork.

Classes run from 6pm to 8pm one evening per week, making these courses suitable for learners who want to study Italian alongside work, university or other commitments.

Online Italian classes
Online classes are delivered through Microsoft Teams and can be accessed using a laptop, desktop computer, smartphone or other compatible device.
If you need assistance getting connected to your online Italian class, staff will be available to help.

 

Which Italian course level should I choose?

If you have never studied Italian before, choose Absolute Beginners.

If you already have some knowledge of Italian, please use our Self-Assessment Grid to help identify the most appropriate course level.

Course dates for 2026–27

Each Italian evening course is a 24-week programme, designed to support steady and continuous progress in your Italian.

The course is delivered across three teaching periods, with breaks between each period. Registration is for the full 24-week course, and students attend all three teaching periods.

Teaching Period 1: 10 weeks Week of 21 September 2026 to week of 30 November 2026
Teaching Period 2: 8 weeks Week of 25 January 2027 to week of 15 March 2027
Teaching Period 3: 6 weeks Week of 5 April 2027 to week of 10 May 2027

Classes take place once a week from 6pm to 8pm, according to the timetable for your chosen level.

 

Course fees

The fee covers the complete 24-week Italian evening course:

Standard course fee: €375

UCC students and staff: €325

Your registration covers all three teaching periods. The course is designed as a continuous learning programme, helping you build your Italian language skills, confidence and fluency progressively over the 24 weeks.

Places are subject to sufficient enrolment at each course level, so prospective students are encouraged to apply before the deadline.

  • Courses will run subject to a minimum number of enrolments at each level.
  • A receipt will be issued by the UCC Shop following registration.
  • If a course does not proceed, registered applicants will receive a refund.
  • Further information from the Department of Italian will be sent after the application deadline of 16 September 2026.
  • All course communications from the Department of Italian will be sent by email.
  • Refunds are not available once courses have commenced.
