Senior Lectureship / Lectureship in Philosophy
College of Arts, Celtic Studies & Social Sciences
The Department of Philosophy is a dynamic and enthusiastic department. Its current major areas of interest lie in Modern and Contemporary Philosophy, especially in Ethics and Politics, Philosophy of Mind and Body, and Philosophy of Art and Culture. Its members work in the Anglo-American and Continental European philosophical styles. The Department plans to further develop its graduate programme and to create a diverse and energetic environment within which to conduct philosophical research.
The Department has recently appointed Professor Graham Parkes as Head of Philosophy. He will take up his appointment in Summer 2008.
Applications are now invited for the above whole-time permanent post within the Department of Philosophy in the School of Philosophy and Sociology. Applicants must have a PhD in Philosophy or cognate area and are expected to contribute significantly to the Department’s research. The successful candidate will have a specialism in the area of Asian or Islamic philosophy and/or Continental European philosophy.

Senior Lectureship Salary scale [new entrants]: €70,035 – €99,233.
Lectureship Salary scale [new entrants]: €36,500 - €59,293 Bar €64,974 - €85,592. Appointment on the relevant scale will be made commensurate with qualifications and experience.
