SENIOR LECTURER IN MIDWIFERY, SCHOOL OF NURSING & MIDWIFERY

College of Medicine and Health

The College of Medicine and Health comprises Schools of Clinical Therapies, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery, and Pharmacy.Applications are invited for the above whole-time permanent post. 

The School of Nursing and Midwifery is rapidly developing and now offers programmes at BSc, MSc and PhD level education together with post-graduate clinical focused Postgraduate Diploma/MSc programmes in Midwifery, Public Health Nursing, Critical Care Nursing (ITU/CCU/A/E), Peri-operative Nursing, Gerontological Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Neonatology and Multiple and Complex Disabilities.The BSc Nursing Degree offers four branches of study – general, psychiatric, intellectual disabilities and children’s/general. A BSc in Midwifery commenced in 2006.

The holder of this post, will be expected to contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, hold an administrative role, will play a major part in developing research and will be actively engaged in research activities.Appointees will also spend time in clinical, supporting clinical practice and promoting evidence based practice and research.

Applicants should hold registration as a nurse and midwife with An Bord Altranais or be eligible for such registration.A post-registration qualification in midwifery is essential.Academic qualification to PhD level is most desirable and applicants who are close to completing their PhD may be considered.Applicants must demonstrate proven excellence in original research as evidenced by publications and conference presentations.Extensive experience in both teaching midwifery programmes and clinical midwifery practice is a requirement.There is also a requirement to participate in clinical practice, to support students in clinical areas, take administrative responsibility as appropriate and develop an area of research.

Salary scale [new entrants]: €66,987 - €94,915 p.a.
