Research Assistant - ELDERMET

A Post-Doctoral Researcher (or Masters with relevant experience) is required to work on a large multi-centre study examining the relationship between diet, intestinal microbial composition and health in elderly people. You should hold a PhD in Statistics or have a Masters in Statistics with relevant research experience.

The successful applicant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team (ELDERMET) examining diverse health outcomes in linked cross-sectional and longitudinal analyses. He/She requires an aptitude for both applied and methodological research, good communication skills and statistical computing experience. Past experience of epidemiological research is desirable. An existing background in the application of statistics in genetics would be an advantage, but candidates wishing to move into the genetics field are also encouraged to apply.

The appointee will report to Dr. Tony Fitzgerald, Department of Statistics / Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, UCC, and to the project co-ordinator, Dr. Paul O’Toole, Department of Microbiology UCC.

This is a full-time fixed term contract appointment, initially for two years, on the standard salary scales for contract researchers in Irish universities.
