Experienced Post-doctoral fellows of proven ability and drive are invited to apply for a 3 year fellowship programme funded by Science Foundation Ireland and working in the Centre for Research in Vascular Biology in the Biosciences Institute, UCC (website).This Vascular Stem Cell Biology programme has recently relocated from the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA.
Position holders will work within a multidisciplinary team exploring fundamental questions in cardiovascular biology including progenitor cell biology. This programme encompasses basic molecular and cell biology related to atherosclerosis and a range of cardiovascular diseases including myocardial infarction and pulmonary hypertension. Experimental studies encompass rodent and porcine models of coronary, pulmonary vascular and myocardial remodeling. Additional programme expertise includes cell therapy, novel device development and tissue engineering.
Significant experience in molecular and hematopoietic cell biology is essential. Extensive experience in flow cytometry, cell sorting and hematopoeitic immunophenotyping is preferred.For appointment as post-doctoral fellow applicants must hold a Ph.D in a molecular/cellular biology subject and have at least 5 years postgraduate experience in molecular/cellular research. The post-holders will work in a programme directed by Professor Noel Caplice.
