The Irish Institute of Chinese Studies (IICS) at University College Cork is a dynamic teaching and research institute. It has five new academic programmes including BA, BComm, Higher Diploma, MA and PhD in Chinese Studies. It is committed to the development of Chinese Studies within Ireland and beyond, establishing itself as a leading regional centre for teaching and research on China and Asia, and fostering cooperation with partners in China, Asia, Europe and America.
Applications are invited for the above whole-time permanent position. Reporting to the Head of the IICS, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and supervise PhD students. The candidate should have a PhD in economics, political science, sociology or a cognate area, with a specialisation in the political economy of contemporary China. Evidence of a personal contribution and commitment to excellence in both teaching and research is required.

Salary scale [new entrants]: €35,610 - €57,847 Bar €63,389 - €83,504. Appointment on the relevant scale will be made commensurate with qualifications and experience.
