Lecturer in Applied Social Stdies - Student Support Officer (1-Year Contract)

College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences

The Department of Applied Social Studies has one of the largest concentrations of full-time mature students in the Irish third level system and has been identified by the Council of Europe as a centre of excellence in adult education and social inclusion.

We are seeking somebody with an outstanding academic record in the Social Sciences who has an understanding of student support/retention issues and inclusive learning strategies, coupled with a commitment to work with mature students’ learning needs.The successful appointee will demonstrate:

• The capacity to promote the practice of social inclusion in education at the highest level.
• An excellent grasp of inclusive learning strategies and written competencies.
• An ability to use learning technologies with the aim of promoting student support/retention.

Salary scale (new entrants): €35,610 - €57,847.
